The Innauguration of Barak Obama
For my 11 year old nephew Dylan who was at the inauguration as a young New York Scholar

For the past two inaugurations, I
fought despair. Today I read.
I celebrate democracy in the
Middleton Library, banned books sit
on the shelves waiting for daring
fingers to clasp on to ideas not
deemed appropriate by the moral
gods appointed by themselves calling
themselves "Religious" "Appointed
by God". A book falls open the words
speak of a WELL OF LONELINESS
where a father knows his daughter is gay
and she finds out after his death that he
knew all along so did her mother, not
as loving as the Father fearing the
wrath of society's Rick Warren who
prays to his god The Father. Warren
prays he says "We are united
not by race or religion or blood"
I take ownership of my prayer adding
"nor sexuality" but to our commitment to
freedom and justice to all." I leave
his prayer when a melting pot played
music a Jew, an Asian, A black, a
wombed man, yes a woman she is the
story today as well. Herstory:
she told the news on CNN and MSNBC
she emcee'd the celebration, and we
heard Obama credit the women behind those
men like Jefferson, Washington and Hancock
"Fore-bearers" My eyes lifted at the sound
as he followed it with "founding documents"
In the Milwaukee Church Archbishop Weakland's
gang saw no problem with sexist language.
he said in the early 1990's that the language
of a male God wasn't relevant. Today, the
word came up from earth, put the divine
in all of us to be saviors of our earth and
I took my job to the library, to celebrate
freedom, in the audience of banned books
where writers wrote so we'd have this day.
Today I sit in the library of Fore-bearers
whose ideas pushed and challenged the Rick
Warrens and the promiscuous bishops out of
their closets, truth reads, a novel idea.
